I pushed a huge update I've been working on for a while and hopefully it brings the gamemode to a state where it's highly playable for endless roleplay now. Rebel and Overwatch factions still need worked on. Overwatch has basic functions with the ability to create characters and have ranks but it has no extra functionality over civil protection currently but still usable for roleplay purposes. Rebels are not implemented yet and since this will be quite a rare thing for players to come across I'm not in a hurry for it.

The UI has been completely reworked, removed annoying things, made menus look consistent and have an easier to understand and more intuitive interaction system. Much more things to do with interacting with the world and items. I will be making more items over time and adding them silently but for now this should be how it stays. Beyond tweaking and adding items you won't see any changes until the next big update push.

I'll call this update 2 and going forward any big updates will simply be numbered as such. Any small changes that either fix bugs, alter existing systems based on feedback or remove/disable things that are broken or disliked from feedback will be sub numbers. "Update 2.1" etc.

This post will constantly be updated with features being worked on, if they are completed/abandoned/in progress and give an overview of what's coming. Please note if you see an item disappear from this list and it is NOT in the abandoned list then that means it has been pushed to the live server.

  • Expanding the Overwatch faction 5%

Abandoned Ideas
  • Flashlight system. Only combine having access to default flashlight and other types of characters needing flashlight item. Abandoned couldn't get it to block the default flashlight from working might revisit again another time.

This list will probably update and change a lot sometimes multiple times in a day while I work.

Since this is the first live push of the gamemode onto a working server I won't be making a long lengthy update post but I am putting together a feature list and a working system for players to see what features I am planning and implementing as well as which stage I am at with it.

I may put together a current list of (major) features but I may end up just waiting until I make another live update and create a changelog from there as I did a lot of work moving up to the launch of the live server.

Hello! First I'd like to start by saying thank you for stopping by if you found yourself here. This community is something I've been wanting to get off the ground for quite a while now and I'm glad I've found myself the motivation to do it. Even if you are just checking things out I still wanna say thank you for giving it and myself your time.

What is this community all about? I've been a part of online gaming going back to the beginning of the 2000s and especially within the online roleplay communities. Starting way back on RPG-X which is a mod for Star Trek Voyager Elite Force that overhauled the game to allow deep roleplaying within the Star Trek universe. I spent a long time and being a part of many great communities during the 2000s.

During that time I discovered Garry's Mod in 2006 and got hooked. Jumping straight into Spacebuild servers and later finding the Taco'n'Banana HL2RP server and falling in love with the deep serious roleplay it offered which reminded me of RPG-X. Serious roleplay just felt elevated above your traditional RP gamemodes because it puts the players imagination and creativity first above objective jobs and roles you have to follow that end up feeling like a minigame objective. Serious RP gamemodes had no goal, no set way to accomplish anything, you did what you thought up and embedded your character and their story into the world of the server with everyone else.

After spending many years in RP servers and even then running my own community and sadly short lived Clockwork: HL2RP server I left the Garry's Mod space for a good number of years. After becoming tired of most modern gaming especially multiplayer gaming, I did my tour of the Overwatch trenches, the Battlefield trenches and others. I always wanted to come back to Garry's Mod and try to see if I could recreate that feeling of intimate, creative and freeform roleplay that I remembered.

That brings us to here! I've made this community because I've decided to see if I can create my own gamemode from scratch and not rely on framework gamemodes. It's made with my memory and knowledge of past serious roleplay gamemodes but also my own ideas and creativity put in. I'm not trying to clone those old gamemodes but make something new that has the same feel while being fresh.

I've been working on it for a while but have now decided to put it live onto a server for anyone to join and enjoy. It is under active development and although there are no errors or unfinished features in the live version I haven't done extensive stress testing of every feature as I've had limited people to help with that. With more people who join and play this should become much easier to spot issues or things which don't quite work right or feel the way they should. All feature suggestions and bug reports will be available to make on the dedicated forum for the server.

I don't want to ramble too much and I will post more with updates to the server and going over features I add or change. For now I want to say thank you for finding this community and trying it out! Even that means a lot to me.
